Yahoo! Mail steps it up

I went to check my Yahoo! Mail this morning, to be greeted by a new 100MB quota and a slightly more polished look-and-feel. While it is much smaller than Google Mail’s gigabyte of storage, it should still last me a while.

My Yahoo! Mail account has messages of mine that go back several years. I’m kind of reluctant to wholly switch to another mail account, especially if there’s no way for me to get my old messages from the old account to the new one. Plus I’m quite used to the Yahoo! interface. It’s comfortable. Especially now that I don’t have to deal with messages telling me my mailbox is 98% full.

Not sure what use I’ll make of my Gmail account. Right now, it’s getting all the same mail that Yahoo! is getting from my MIT alum email forwarding address. But it could be annoying dealing with two different email accounts (not to mention my work email account). I guess I’ll just wait and see.

Hotmail is still advertising “only $59.95 per year” for 100MB of storage.

Wonder how long it will take them to catch up?
