Joel on the Windows API
Joel from Joel on Software just posted a really interesting article about the fall of the Windows API, but I can’t believe that he didn’t include a single mention of Java! Well, besides a tiny paranthetical comment or two. He totally ignores the fact that you can write Java desktop applications (like IntelliJ IDEA) that can take the place of writing desktop applications limited to one operating system. Web applications aren’t the only alternative to Windows applications. It’s an interesting read, though, and I agree with a lot of his points.
