Hiking in the Blue Hills
As I mentioned earlier, I went hiking with some friends this past Saturday, and I totally filled up my memory card with pictures. Here are a select few of my favorites.
I love the lovely warm colors of this photo, with the fallen pine needles making a orange carpet on the ground.

At the end of the trail, there was an observation tower on top of the hill. You can see the Boston skyline off in the distance. The view was great, and it was a beautiful day to be enjoying it.

In addition to the observation tower, there was a weather observation station. Their flag was flying at half-mast in honor of President Reagan.

Yes, the sky really was that blue.

The lack of trees by the weather station gave these daisies a chance to feel the sunlight.

Then we made our way back down the trail. As you can see, the Blue Hills are very rocky.

After hiking and dinner at the Outback Steakhouse, we took a nice stroll along the beach in Quincy. Here’s Brandy, sitting on the low wall along the sidewalk.

I just love being outside, walking around in the woods. Brandy was sore from tennis, so she and I fell behind the others, since I certainly was in no hurry–I like to savor the experience, to stop and look at everything (and take a million pictures). I’ve always been perfectly content sitting outside poking around logs ands rocks and streams. Anyway, it was nice to get some sun, too–my shoulders actually got a little pink (I am the palest person I’ve ever known, by the way). This Sunday I’m planning on doing some sight-reading with Amanda and Angus and then going to the beach afterwards. Maybe I’ll even be brave enough to wear the new bikini I bought recently (I’m more used to the racing suits I used to wear for swim team).

Beautiful pics, Jennifer. They’re bringing back a lot of memories for me, I learned to ski at the Blue Hills’ little slope (vertical drop: 309 feet!), and to rock climb at the Quincy Quarry.

Nice pics. I love the daisies (my favorite flower). Makes me want to get out of the city for a day or two…

Neat. I was at Blue Hills recently 2006 and am trying to get the history about the tower and weather observation…
Nice website!
