A tabletop fountain

I’ve always kind of wanted one of those tabletop fountains, but thought they were too much of a ripoff to actually buy. So when I saw a book on making your own fountains on clearance for five dollars at Michaels a couple of weeks ago, I thought why not?
Actually, making a fountain’s pretty simple–you don’t really need the book. But it does work for getting inspiration, and it has some useful information in it. Anyway, the main thing you need is to buy a little pump. I got one for around six dollars online. For the rest, I used a wooden serving bowl from Target, four small bags of river rocks I got at the flea market, and an old silver pitcher (also from the flea market).
I had to drill a hole in the bottom of the pitcher, which was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I didn’t even use a proper drill - just my cordless screwdriver with a drill bit. It went through the metal quite easily (I chose a pitcher with a thin base on purpose, so that helped). Then it was just a matter of putting everything together. Well, actually it’s not quite done–I need to properly waterproof the wooden bowl.
Anyway, it was a fun little project, and what’s nice is that it’s really easy to change it if I get tired of it.
