Haircut
I got a haircut tonight at the Louis duGal Salon in Newton. It’s a really cute little salon, not at all pretentious, and my hairdresser, Kady, was very friendly and did a really nice job. And this place is so much easier to get to (by car) than Newbury Street!
Here’s a pic of the new cut:

Hi J., Good pic of your haircut as I remember it at family reunion. I got my hair cut in a somewhat short bob today. The kids were visiting friends (a boy and girl about their ages). When I walked in to pick them up Jake said “you look like Willy Wonka” - I presume the Johnny Depp version that we saw last weekend. I had four children pointing at my head, laughing and saying “Willy Wonka” repeatedly. Patrick, age 9, said my hair looked more like that of the mother of Violet (the girl who turned blue). I think he was just saying that to be nice though.
I am here at Mom & Dad’s house to feed the cat; they are in Las Vegas currently. Amy got a teaching position last week and when I talked to them yesterday they were babysitting Will & Erin while she was looking at houses to rent. She might be able to rent a house with a small pool in the back yard which would be nice since it’s so hot there.
It’s nice to see someone else so interested in their kitties. We currently have five in the house. We had Milo and Pumpkin to start with. I have been in a melancholy mindframe the last couple of years concerning babies. It’s not really that I want to have another baby (I think) rather that I wish I could have my current children back at various baby stages for bits of time. They’re so grown up now. Anyway - having to do with cats - one of Debbie’s multiple cats had kittens and I wanted one. Dan humphed and grouched about and didn’t want another one - I don’t clean the litter box enough as it is, etc. I told him it was either a baby or a kitten to which he replied “Well, if you really want the cat go ahead and get it” and there were no further complaints. I picked a gorgeous black female and Jake promptly named her Padme from - you guessed it - Star Wars. Not a week later I found two small kittens dumped in a box alongside the road very near our house. I’ll never forget when I got out of the car and ran towards the box and the kitties came running toward me as fast as their little kitten legs could carry them. It was a day of about 100 degrees. They certainly would have suffered from heat exhaustion, cars or dogs. How can someone be so cruel as to let a defenseless baby animal suffer? It would have been kinder to just shoot them as for all they knew they could have suffered miserably before death by just being dumped. They could have at least dropped them off at an animal shelter. Nobody answered the ad we put in the paper for them and with each day we are becoming more attached to Annakin and Leah. I don’t want to give them to somebody to be a “farm cat”. After their tough beginning I want them to be spoiled, indoor cats. I guess we can just face a very long time of everything we own being covered in cat hair.

Hi Kathie!
I’m sure your bob looks great - your hair always looks great! Actually, I’m very jealous of you - I don’t have any skills when it comes to styling my hair - I can never get it to look as good as the hairdresser does.
Sounds like you are tied with Mom & Meghan now for most indoor cats! It must be so much fun having so many kittens around. And those babies were so lucky you rescued them after they were dumped. Anyway, just buy everything in a gray color, and you won’t even notice the cat hair!
Either that, or buy lint rollers in bulk. Anyway, I know what you mean about not wanting them to be barn cats - the life is not the greatest, if they even manage to survive.
I’m so glad you wrote - it’s great to hear from you. Hey, ever thought about having your own blog?
