Not sure why, but lately nothing has been quite as good to listen to as the music of Rimsky-Korsakov. It puts me in a good mood, and at work it's making me more productive. Maybe it's the energy and the brightness, helping me out when I feel tired or blah.

What a powerful set of lower strings this instrument has! I think it's even boomier than the Marilyn Wallin viola I [...]

Some songs were voice and guitar only, some had bass and drums, and some had viola (me) and cello.

Right now I have four violas in my house: mine, a big 17-incher made by Michele Ashley and two made by Douglas Cox (one 16 5/8", the other 16 7/8").

This whole viola-buying business is so hard. I've tried many very nice instruments, but it's hard to remember the sound of them all over the [...]

Loose ligaments are what I have. Well, that's no surprise to me, my thumbs are double-jointed and I've always been able to stretch my fingers back farther than most people. Apparently, though, these loose ligaments may make me more suseptible to repetitive strain injuries. Lucky me.

Anyway, it's been interesting seeing a doctor [...]

Wait, they're quoting Auld Lang Syne! Not my favorite tune, but it's interesting to hear it quoted in chamber music. I wonder what piece this is.
